The estates run a corporate calendar of their own — annual general meetings, long-service and safety awards, grower and outgrower meetings, field days, contractor briefings and the end-of-season functions that matter a great deal to the people attending them. These are formal programmes and the AV has to be reliable rather than improvised: clean speech reinforcement across a full hall, wireless microphones for panels and floor questions, a screen sized so the back row can read a slide, and a technician on the desk for the duration.
Grower meetings and field days are often the harder job, because they happen out on the estate rather than in a room — a marquee at the edge of a field, or a shed with a tin roof and no acoustic treatment at all. We plan those properly rather than optimistically. Generator power sized for the whole rig, cable runs matted where guests walk, a build scheduled to finish in daylight, and a spare of anything whose failure would stop the event. For a bush venue in the Lowveld that last point is not caution for its own sake — it is the difference between a hitch and a cancelled programme.

If there is one part of Zimbabwe where cooling is not a nice extra, it is the Lowveld. Chiredzi and Triangle run hot for most of the year and genuinely punishing through the build-up months before the rains, when daytime temperatures push well into the forties and the heat is still sitting on the place long after dark. A marquee full of guests at an October function is a real problem, not a comfort detail.

Alongside the estates, Chiredzi carries a full local calendar — weddings, church conventions, school prize-givings and community gatherings, most of them in marquees or open halls and most of them in heat. The sound brief is straightforward; the environment is not. Equipment left standing in Lowveld sun behaves differently to equipment in a Harare hall, and we build and place the rig with that in mind rather than treating it as an ordinary outdoor job.
For large church conventions we bring systems built for sustained use at volume across several days, with enough microphones for the pulpit, the choir and visiting preachers, and screens where an overflow area needs to follow the programme.
